For the past few weeks we have been involved with class debating. We are up to finding the finalists to compete for the team/school competition. Will it be Samadhi, Michelle and Cameron or Jesse, Stacy , and Kitana. We will find out on Monday and perhaps post a snippet of the final on our blog. All will be revealed then....

Hey Team,

Havent bn on the blog page for ages and WOW it looks great! Well done Cameron you have really done a great job with this blog and keeping it up to date. Congrats on winning Heavenly Netball, sorry i didnt get to watch a game but well done (my class won it last year too). Not many weeks left now till the end of school but remember that it isnt over till the final bell goes for the year and dont end the year on a bad note by doing one dumb thing at the end of the year - you create your own ending remember...
I enjoyed reading Jess and Samadhis writing, very good writing ; ) Good luck for standards day this week, how is mighty mohaka going on the shield? Got any more? Well i will see you all before the end of the school year, I have the strange odd day when i miss you all ; ) Be good and end the year on a positive note.

A-Z BULLY PROOF GUIDE!

In Room 15 for the past 4 weeks we have been putting together an 'A-Z Bully Proof Guide', which is an electronic clip that has 26 strategies to deal with bullying. These strategies have been thought up by the students of Room 15 and we hope to share this to students all around our school, to help those who are being mis-treated, and to also make bullies think about what they are doing and how it is effecting students. We are all different and NO one deserves to be put in that position, so come on guys help out, stick up for those who are being bullied!

Heavenly Netball 2009

Room 15 won heavenly netball and are still deciding on what we will buy with the prize money. The victory against room 8 was awesome. You can see what actually happened by watching the video ☺ We all supported the heavenly netball this year and it was good to have all our supporters, hope we take BK basketball home the same way. A big thanks to all the heavenly netball players and also a big thanks to Samadhi the captain of the team.

How did cheese originate

Cheese has been around for so long that it appeared around 7000 bc. Cheese can be bland,buttery,rich,creamy or salty. there are many types of cheese like cottage,cream,mascarpone,mozzarella,ricotta & so many more.

Cheese has thought to have originated in europe,central asia or in the middle east.Greeks considered cheese as a luxary food only for the wealthy.cheese is one of the most varied foods in the world! (taste wise)

Cheese comes from sheep,cows and goats .chedder comes from cows.The texture of the cheese can be so hard that you have to chipp it and some can be so soft you have to eat it with a spoon.

So next time you are eating cheese think about what animal it came fron and the taste & texture you experience

WHY ARE TREES SO IMPORTANT TO US?

Trees are like the lungs of our planet. Without trees pretty much nothing could live.

Trees give us oxygen. This happens by trees sucking up the carbon dioxide that we release and in return we get oxygen. Trees also provide homes for birds and other wildlife, by giving them branches and leaves to sit, sleep and breed on. But that’s not all trees provide for us. They also help to reduce ozone levels in urban areas. Additionally, trees give us moisture and shade.

There are many benefits of planting trees. Some such as… removing excess amounts of carbon dioxide and air pollutants present at the time. Trees also reduce the sound of noise to a great extent which is an awesome bonus.

Without trees our planet would be a disaster, all animals, birds and insects would not survive. Our planet would be an awful air polluted dump. Our children would have no future and our planet would slowly but surely die.

So come on New Zealand, lets introduce more trees to our colourful, friendly country and keep the generations growing.

On the 25th of June 2009 Rooms 12, 13 and 15 got together and had a session of designing/modelling our materials were: newspaper, 1metre tape and 1 pair of scissors. We had half an hour to design a newspaper outfit. We had to have a name and a story on what it is and where you were it and also what style it is. After we had done all this we lined up and modelled for Mrs Taylor (DP) and she marked us on how we did and how good it was designed. Our winners were: Shanika (Model) Sarah(Designer) Ruby(Designer) and Tyler (Speaker).

We all had such an AWESOME afternoon!

ROOM 15'S NETBALL SKILLS!

Over the past 3 weeks we have been learning how to play Netball properly.
The first skill we learnt was passing. We learnt quite a lot of different passing techniques such as Chest passes, Bounce Passes, Side Passes and Lob Passes. The next skill we learnt was Pivoting. Pivoting is an essential skill. You use this skill when catching the ball and turning to face a different way. You pivot by landing on 2 feet and the first foot that touches the ground has to stay glued to the ground it can not be moved otherwise you will be pulled up for stepping. And the last foot that touches the ground is the foot that that you may move around to face a different way. And the last skill that we learnt was Shooting and Defending. When shooting you can stand anywhere inside the shooting circle which is in the last third of EVERY Netball court. When defending you have to be 3 Feet away from the attacker and you can not step forward into them or else you will be called up for obstruction which means you were obviously not 3 feet away. So guys you better watch out when it comes to heavenly netball guys !

In Room 15 for P.E we have been learning some Gymnastics skills. We have had alot of fun doing this as a class and we have seen some REALLY pro flips and other interesting skills. Room 15 has really enjoyed doing Gymnastics and we would LOVE to do it again.

Room 15's overall experience was eye opening and more than most of the class enjoyed it!

My back slouched as i made my way to the bus shelter.the cold wind had yet to die away.... As the warmth of the bus beckond me towards it.. But my legs could only carry me just so fast. Jogging, Sprinting... My face shivered away from the cold. My breathing tensed as my throat tried to dislodge of the cold oxygen that shivered my throat... The wind watered my eyes, but the sun, finally rose, warming my now rosy cheeks, the sun finally having its say, as i made my way to the bus shelter.

I could feel my nervousness building up inside me. 3rd place gone, 2nd place gone, not going to win! 1st place goes to.............. Team 23 Taradale 6. As soon as I heard my groups name I could hear the screams and claps around me. That is my happiest time yet.

We are encouraging each other to add in Japanese words during class.
We have learnt to call Miss Taylor Sensei and we can say some other greetings.

Hi Team,
Just thought i would check out our blog and see what you have been up to in the last couple of wks... Good to see that you have written a posting Cameron but was looking for a bit more information. Perhaps by now you might have more of an overview about what you will be up to in Term2, what is your inquiry topic, fish n chip footie etc... Goals for term 2!
Would love to see some photos to of the fine examples of work you are completing in class.
So keep the postings 'fresh' so that i can see what you are up to and also your parents and the whole big wide world!!
Glad to hear that you guys have settled in well with Miss Taylor ( yes i hear everything and know what is going on..) Be the wicked class that i know you are, I will come and see you all soon. No baby yet two more wks....
